As a consistent outreach of the Men's Ministry at Northridge Church, a car has been entered at the annual enduro race at the Steele County Free Fair. The enduro car provides ministry opportunities on several levels.
First of all, it is an opportunity for Jesus Christ to be glorified outside the walls of the church building. Whether it is waiting in line to have the car inspected, visiting with other teams in the pits, or having a car with "Jesus Saves" racing past the crowd in the grand stand, this ministry is about evangelism.
In addition, the enduro car provides opportunities for fellowship among men. Long before race day many hours of labor are spent making sure the vehicle is ready. These times of preparation provide for fellowship in men that is critical to growth as individuals and a church.
In a like manner, this ministry is an arena in which those who are gifted in the area of mechanics can glorify Christ. Furthermore, it opens doors to instruction and teaching for those who might be more mechanically challenged. Too, fathers and sons can share quality time over a mutual interest.
Finally, the enduro car and race give the church a fun cause to rally around and support. Come race day, one can find a number of folks from the church in the stands cheering for their driver, pit crew, and car. heaven.
